Our Founder, Latonya Nelson, who hails from Detroit. Although she was born in the north, her upbringing in the south has instilled in her a deep-seated love for the community and its people.

Latonya’s vision for our facility is to create a space where everyone who walks through our doors can experience love and empowerment. We are dedicated to providing a wide range of free resources, including job training, rehabilitation services, counseling, after-school and summer camp programs for children, a food bank, a clothing closet, animal exhibits, media and music programs, and much more. We are excited to be a catalyst for change, centrally located in the Heart of Georgia.

As a mother herself, Latonya understands the challenges posed by various environmental factors. Her personal journey is a testament to resilience, and she has identified the pressing needs of our youth while also developing networks that uplift and motivate adults. We hope to work closely with the parish to help decrease crime in our community, as Latonya is committed to assisting our city one family at a time.

The primary goal of Brown Box Blessings is to deliver, thorough school supplies, food, clothing, furniture, throughout the year and New Toys at Christmas. This will be a message of hope to less fortunate families locally and globally that were here to assist them by lifting a hand, lighting a load, and overall being a “Brown Box Blessing.”
